Karie has a career that has recently hit the thirty year mark and shows no signs of slowing. Bennett is a Master artist and a leader in the salon industry. She has been the recipient of numerous awards from industry organizations, including the prestigious NAHA Salon Master of Business Award in 2011.
Since the successful opening of Atelier Lifestyle SalonSpa in 2002 at Santana Row, and the subsequent opening of her Atelier Studio, also in San Jose, Bennett has found that the team atmosphere at Atelier inspires creativity, generates positive energy and brings the Aveda experience to a more authentic level for the client. These experiences have helped her develop the comprehensive Atelier Protégé™ program to hone the skills of up-and-coming new stylists, as well as train her top artists to be outstanding industry mentors.
Her belief that all employees at Atelier should have career paths have grown her business to the point where Salon Today Magazine has named Atelier SalonSpa to be one of the top 200 fastest growing salons in North America for 7 years, as well as to be the recipients of the very prestigious 2011 North American Hairstyling Association’s Salon Master of Business Award, as well as UCLA Anderson School of Business’ Global Salon Business Award, given to only 75 salon owners in the world, and only 7 in the U.S.
Bennett’s clientele is diverse: high-profile professionals from all industries, local and nationwide, as well as a beautiful local community, and her personal mission is to make a difference in her industry through a new standard of salon excellence starting with her talented Atelier team. A favorite of the fashion show and photo shoot community, she is often found leading show teams behind the scenes, and her styling work has been featured on the covers of Gentry, South Bay Accent, Scene magazine, and Salon Today magazine, as well as on the fashion runways for Santana Row, Nigel Who?, Harker Academy and Vitamin Water’s Fashion Challenge. She continues to make education and inspiration a priority and her belief in listening to and educating the client at every visit has built her a loyal following, as well as helped a new generation of hair artists find their way to success.
In honor of her 30th year as a hairdresser, Bennett is celebrating by diving into a second career–as a writer, and a third, as a business consultant and keynote speaker. She is a Contributing Writer for Salon Today magazine, the nation’s leading salon business publication, and is also the Small Business examiner for San Jose’s examiner.com.
